**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Mon Jun 27 02:59:57 2011 Jun 27 05:56:45 moo Jun 27 10:17:27 Hello. Page http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Distributors tells us something about distributors and price comparison. There, I see three different FreeRunner versions: A7, A7+ and A7++. I know some about the "buzz fix" and its mentioned on a separate colomn on the table on that page. Apart from that, what is the difference(s) between A7, A7+ and A7++. I failed to find an official explanation on that matter. Jun 27 10:18:37 marenostrum: there's no official explanation as there's no official A7+ version. Jun 27 10:19:09 marenostrum: those are custom fixes applied in-field by the distributors, so you've to ask the seller about the particular differences. Jun 27 10:21:07 PaulFertser, So in your opinion a plain A7 without + and ++ -with buzz fix of course- OK for "general purposes" whatever it means? Jun 27 10:25:38 marenostrum: not exactly, sorry. My opinion is that you should consider which fixes you really need depending on your purposes and act accordingly. I can explain the meaning of the fixes when it's unclear. Jun 27 10:29:10 PaulFertser, Thank you for the answers. What I understand is, its not a big deal to go with a "plain" A7 (without + and ++) because this is the official version and most probably most of the community use that version. (I'm not asking as "Am I wrong?" for not taking your time. :) ) Thank tou very much. Jun 27 10:31:26 marenostrum: buzzfix is important. Jun 27 10:31:41 marenostrum: i assume most of the community did it one way or the other. Jun 27 10:32:05 marenostrum: 1024 fix is important for the maximum suspend time, it almost doubles it. Jun 27 10:32:24 marenostrum: bass fix is mandatory if you want to listen to the music. Jun 27 10:32:28 marenostrum: so it's up to you. Jun 27 10:32:52 PaulFertser, I see. I mean, I'll go with one with a buzz fix but with no + and ++ apart from buzz fix. Jun 27 10:33:00 marenostrum: al A7 have buz fix . first + is 1024 fix, second + bass fix Jun 27 10:33:55 jluis, Are 1024 fix and bass fix critical? Jun 27 10:35:21 marenostrum: i've just told you that... Jun 27 10:35:54 PaulFertser, jluis Sorry I read Paul's last answers lately. I understand it now. Thanks a lot. Jun 27 10:36:28 :) Jun 27 10:36:38 as PaulFertser said it depends on your usage ( I've it buzz fixed only) Jun 27 10:37:35 jluis, Thank you. I got it. Now I am going to compare the prices again. :) Thanks. Jun 27 15:46:56 seems like my buzzfix paper was one of the most useful and sustainable jobs I've ever accomplished :-) Jun 27 15:48:46 :) Jun 27 15:50:01 NB even A7 has just a builtin buzzfix, and is not fixing the root cause Jun 27 15:50:23 A8 had, but alas it was a bit late :-) Jun 27 15:51:23 I think there never were more than 5 A8 Jun 27 15:52:57 ...while we already worried about running out of hw-vesioning bits on GPIO for going A9 XP Jun 27 15:55:55 I'd have used some R-C then, with a timing changing from version to version, rather than putting one more GPIO on it **** BEGIN LOGGING AT Tue Jun 28 00:11:47 2011 **** ENDING LOGGING AT Tue Jun 28 02:59:58 2011
