**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Sep 16 02:59:57 2009 Sep 17 00:41:47 Hi. I just got my plug, and straight away I have a problem with a USB drive. I have a 2.5" drive in an unpowered USB enclosure (I read a forum post from someone claiming that this setup worked for him). If I connect it directly, the drive powers up and spins, but it is not recognized either by uboot or the linux usb stack. Sep 17 00:41:54 If instead I connect a powered USB hub to the plug (which is recognized) and then connect the drive to that, then I can hear the drive power cycling repeatedly, and it still isn't recognized. By not recognized, I mean that either it doesn't show up at all, or it shows up but I get a "can't set config #1, error -71" message. Sep 17 00:42:30 Has anyone else experienced this, or been able to fix it? Sep 17 00:43:27 adapted, can you see if it works with a different device and that same hub? Sep 17 00:43:44 it certainly works with my PC with no hub Sep 17 00:43:53 i mean plug -> hub -> storage Sep 17 00:44:09 alternatively, please post up the full USB descriptors in a pastebin Sep 17 00:46:10 oh, I see Sep 17 00:46:38 hang on... Sep 17 01:01:47 ...I can connect a non-storage device to the powered hub, and that works...I have 2 different powered hubs from different manufacturers with the same issues...I can connect a powered 3.5" enclosure directly to the plug, or to an unpowered hub, but not to a powered hub. Sep 17 01:02:01 Looks like something's wrong with my USB power adapter Sep 17 02:05:16 Okay, so I checked the output from my USB power adapters - I did have one that was bad, but the other is good (5V, max 5A). Connecting my hub to this and to the plug is fine. When I then connect the 2.5" drive enclosure I'm back to the same problem - either it doesn't show up at all, or it does, but I can't access the drive. Sep 17 02:07:14 adapted, I gotta go out and buy groceries, and then make dinner Sep 17 02:07:21 but with the known good hub and power supply Sep 17 02:07:26 please post the full USB descriptors Sep 17 02:07:32 for all devices in the chain Sep 17 02:07:55 # lsusb -vv Sep 17 02:07:57 to pastebin Sep 17 02:08:09 will do **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Sep 17 02:59:57 2009
