**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sat Mar 05 02:59:57 2011 Mar 05 17:58:08 Hey guys. I was here a few weeks ago asking questions about my sheevaplug and installing squeeze onto it. I am reading this guide: http://www.plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/Installing_Debian_To_Flash and I just installed Squeeze on my USB flash drive. However I had no option to install without a kernel :( What gives? Mar 05 17:59:47 My question is. If I continue this guide. Will I have two kernels? Mar 05 18:14:41 ralleab: do the kernels have different names? Mar 05 18:21:34 well one kernel is directly written onto the nand and the other currently is located on my USB drive. After getting it up I will move the USB drive data onto the nand Mar 05 18:21:44 so I don't believe the first has a name Mar 05 18:33:10 would it be possible to install debian onto my flash drive, then mirror it onto the NAND beginning at 0x100000 ? Mar 05 18:39:51 tinker-f595: when I try to boot the kernel I get this "Waiting for root device /dev/sda2..." which is the flash drive. But it doesn not work Mar 05 18:40:23 tinker-f595: it is at this position in the guide: http://www.plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/Installing_Debian_To_Flash#Boot_with_USB_rootfs Mar 05 18:58:54 what do you mean by it does not work? what happens? Mar 05 19:02:03 rabeeh: try replacing 'rootwait' with 'rootdelay=10' Mar 05 19:14:56 tinker-f595: http://pastebin.com/pT45WYbD Mar 05 19:20:37 ralleab: you can just remove the kernel eventually Mar 05 19:20:58 once you boot from the nand-flashed kernel (possibly from sheeva.with-linux.com) you can apt-get remove linux* Mar 05 19:21:31 why are we carrying on 2 conversations about the same thing at the same time? Mar 05 19:21:33 ah cool. Anyway, I am also getting help in #sheevaplug but thanks for the tip Mar 05 19:21:44 ralleab: kerio is in #sheevaplug helping you too lol Mar 05 19:21:46 lol Mar 05 19:21:50 I know :) Mar 05 19:21:52 *we* are the ones helping you in #sheevaplug Mar 05 19:22:53 I know. I also just wanted tinker-f595 to know :) Mar 05 19:34:15 What's the difference between #sheevaplug and #openplug? Mar 05 19:34:34 not much really Mar 05 19:34:47 some people join there because the name is easy to know Mar 05 19:35:02 (or guess) Mar 05 19:35:49 I joined #sheevaplug and asked my question there too and finally someone took up the matter :) Mar 05 19:36:16 #sheevaplug came along after openplug Mar 05 19:36:27 oh. Mar 05 19:36:31 #openplug is the official channel Mar 05 19:36:45 the old hands are in irc://irc.freenode.net/#openplug Mar 05 19:37:03 that is here Mar 05 19:37:51 armin76: Have not seen you here in a while **** ENDING LOGGING AT Sun Mar 06 02:59:57 2011
