**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Feb 29 02:59:58 2012 Feb 29 04:11:49 Hi all. My new dreamplug won't boot with a "Bad Data CRC" message. I think I can work through the "Setup a debian filesystem" doc on the download page, but I'd like to know what I did wrong first. I modified some init scripts so wifi booted into client mode, after which it still booted fine, at some point I did an aptitude upgrade, & finally I added some packages & modified some configs to get a music server up & running, and transfered about 1TB of data f Feb 29 04:12:01 sorry for the length of that Feb 29 04:17:46 if anyone is curious, here is a log of my first boot with this dreamplug: http://codepad.org/DVLGUGnS Feb 29 04:23:59 here's the error message, printenv, & what little info i was able to find poking around in u-boot http://codepad.org/jzochYEv Feb 29 04:27:32 also, is there a place to download the software that came with my kit? (kernel 2.6.39.4)? everythin on http://code.google.com/p/dreamplug/downloads/list seems pretty old Feb 29 07:22:48 kennethd: wait a few more weeks and you should see some interesting stuff in the mainline kernel source Feb 29 07:55:41 tinker-f595: thanks, in the meantime, would you have any insight into what caused the checksum error? this is my first u-boot device/attempt, i'm not sure what i might have done to mess it up Feb 29 15:16:35 Tootoot222: how do i do that if i can't interact with it? Feb 29 15:58:46 g_r_eek: you update the kernel from the bootloader command prompt Feb 29 15:58:54 just interrupt it before it boots while it does that countdown Feb 29 15:59:17 then you can use the tftpload/nanderase/nandwrite etc commands to load and write the kernel Feb 29 16:45:53 Tootoot222: i am trying to interrupt the boot with enter right? Feb 29 16:46:03 sure, you can use any key Feb 29 16:46:12 it boots up, it shows the big ascii art saying "U-BOOT" Feb 29 16:46:16 then it counts backwards from 3 Feb 29 16:46:22 just press any key before it says 0 Feb 29 16:47:48 Tootoot222: it does not respond it runs the one i sent on the paste bin and it stops there http://pastebin.com/dfWhdABp' Feb 29 16:48:10 maybe i am to late Feb 29 16:48:54 i will try to install the usb serials on my mac because am going in windows vm and by the time i connect with putty its to late Feb 29 16:49:39 ahh ok now Feb 29 16:49:46 am at the prompt Feb 29 16:50:13 Tootoot222: Marvell>> ver Feb 29 16:50:13 U-Boot 2011.12 (Jan 08 2012 - 21:53:47) Feb 29 16:50:13 Marvell-Sheevaplug - eSATA - SD/MMC Feb 29 16:50:13 gcc (Debian 4.6.2-9) 4.6.2 Feb 29 16:50:14 GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.22 Feb 29 16:52:03 g_r_eek: now load the kernel somewhere into memory, and burn it onto the nand, you can see where to do it from the plug wiki Feb 29 16:52:41 Tootoot222: ok let me try thanlks Feb 29 17:53:56 when i load the image it boots Feb 29 17:54:26 but when i reboot its seats can't get kernel image Feb 29 17:55:10 Tootoot222: i followed http://plugcomputer.org/plugwiki/index.php/Recovering_from_bad_kernel_flash is there anything am missing to write to the boot menu or so? **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Mar 01 02:59:59 2012
