Aug 20 20:23:29 hi Aug 20 20:23:38 i knew that was coming... Aug 20 21:21:52 because the patch that strips it down hasn't been rebased to 3.0.29 yet Aug 20 21:21:54 * Nix is an Aussie living in Istanbul and he uses moin... Aug 20 21:22:04 I guess I hang around with too many Germans :-D Aug 20 21:22:08 ok Aug 20 21:22:08 ;) Aug 20 21:22:22 I thought that must be the case.. Just thought I would check Aug 20 22:00:45 nico * r12359 / (54 files in 27 dirs): move more extra packages from ./trunk to ./packages Aug 20 22:52:32 question: when I want to backport olsr to whiterussian (since many use that for the linksys): that is the normal way? svn co ... ; edit ; svn commit ? Aug 20 22:53:05 ah... is there a special tag for whiterussian packages svn ? Aug 20 22:53:18 or do they use the same packages as trunk? Aug 20 22:54:51 sorry, answered my own question right now... Aug 20 22:55:27 <{Nico}> aroscha: the whiterussian SDK used to "understand" the new package format Aug 20 22:55:36 cool, thx Aug 20 22:55:46 <{Nico}> not sure it's still true though Aug 20 22:56:29 <{Nico}> aroscha: give it a try, i might help you add what's missing in the SDK to get it work Aug 20 22:56:39 ok Aug 20 22:56:43 doing it right now Aug 20 22:58:25 <{Nico}> aroscha: btw, how went the meeting with juliusz? Aug 20 22:58:33 good Aug 20 22:58:35 very interesting Aug 20 22:58:54 he is a smart guy. very academic but nice :) Aug 20 22:59:48 afterwards he wrote a proof why batman converges in ~ 2^k steps for paths of length k Aug 20 22:59:56 nice small proof Aug 20 23:00:11 so, it was very good to exchange ideas and learn from babel (his protocol) Aug 20 23:00:26 it is very much like EIGRP (the cisco monster which almost never has loops) Aug 20 23:00:29 ah hi alina Aug 20 23:00:44 hi Aug 20 23:00:51 hey Aug 20 23:01:50 <{Nico}> aroscha: i only met him once at the univeristy where everyone was playing with "babel-ed" laptops & routers like kids Aug 20 23:02:09 x-alina: I wanted to point you to http://wiki.funkfeuer.at/index.php/Arbeitsgruppe_IPv6_im_Mesh - some folks in Vienna want to experiment also with v6 Aug 20 23:02:23 Nico: yeah. Well, I guess it is an interesting idea behind it Aug 20 23:03:06 Nico: I just want to find some time to flash many FONs with that so that we can see if it actually performs in practice and if not, why it does not. At least it is loop free (usually) Aug 20 23:03:51 x-alina: you might want to hook up with them and exchange ideas. Maybe they found some cool tricks that you did not think about yet Aug 20 23:04:36 Nico: we also had T.Clausen here recently. Aug 20 23:04:54 <{Nico}> aroscha: that's what babel is missing imho: large real world experiments Aug 20 23:05:02 Nico: yup! true. Aug 20 23:05:29 Nico: in practice you always find a few nasty bugs / problems Aug 20 23:05:34 and they are so hard to debug Aug 20 23:06:59 ulrich (guy from Vienna, quite a leading person at the IT department for the whole technical univ. of Vienna) is now looking into adding SNMP support to olsrd so that we can finally read out values from it over the net (well at least a bit/ I hope he is successful). That would help immensely in understanding what is happening in the network Aug 20 23:10:01 <{Nico}> the mesh revolution is under way :) Aug 20 23:10:11 aroscha: Thanks, can you speak german? Is there a mailinglist? Aug 20 23:10:24 x-alina: arosche == aaron Aug 20 23:10:36 nico: well, it will still take time :) Aug 20 23:10:54 <{Nico}> aroscha: good to hear that you are actually exchanging and making progress Aug 20 23:11:22 nico: yes, I believe without exchange we will get stuck in a local optimum but not see the global one :) Aug 20 23:12:00 aroscha: achso, okay. :) Aug 20 23:13:53 <{Nico}> time for an #openwrt-german channel? (Sorry, my english ist too bad to write this.) (Allerdings leider zusammen mit etwas Layer 8 Mist :/ ) Aug 20 23:56:23 ah Aug 20 23:56:33 nun, schick mir am besten die links oder so Aug 20 23:56:37 dann kann ich drueberlesen Aug 20 23:56:55 ich weiss noch nicht genau, wann ich aber dazu komme Aug 20 23:56:59 werde herumreisen Aug 20 23:58:41 <{Nico}> aroscha: yep Aug 20 23:58:59 ah still awake.. ok, well I have probably only a minor issue Aug 20 23:59:35 the makefile for olsrd in whiterussian wants to install -m755 into $IDIR_OLSRD Aug 20 23:59:42 but that ends up to be /etc/ Aug 20 23:59:51 and that is not what we want on the build host Aug 21 00:00:23 so where should the /etc/olsrd.conf file end up in the build environment? in build~_dir/base_dir/files/etc/? Aug 21 00:01:54 second question: are there regular automatic builds of ipkgs that I can point to from www.olsr.org? Aug 21 00:04:22 because in http://downloads.openwrt.org/kamikaze/packages/ I can only find old 0.5.3 olsr packages Aug 21 00:04:30 and I would like to keep it really up to date Aug 21 00:04:48 otherwise our feedback cycle gets mixed up a bit Aug 21 00:04:54 <{Nico}> aroscha: $(IDIR_OLSRD) is the olsrd package root (everything in there will be in the package) Aug 21 00:05:11 people still use 0.5.3 but that has a few very nasty bugs Aug 21 00:05:12 <{Nico}> it's defined by the PKG_template macro by the build system Aug 21 00:05:23 ok... Aug 21 00:05:25 hmm.. Aug 21 00:06:06 <{Nico}> i'm not sure we already have automated builds Aug 21 00:06:25 no, seems like not Aug 21 00:06:30 I could offer a machine for that Aug 21 00:06:33 aroscha: Link find ich jetzt leider nicht mehr, es geht hauptsaechlich darum das sie die die olsr-nodes eine ip-adresse in dem prefix ziehen, dass das naechste gateway ins mesh hineinroutet. Aug 21 00:06:52 ahh Aug 21 00:07:03 <{Nico}> aroscha: a machine for what? hosting automated builds? Aug 21 00:07:04 x-alina: I believe the batman folks did just exactly that Aug 21 00:07:09 nico: oiu Aug 21 00:07:12 oui Aug 21 00:07:25 Nico: 8GB of RAM Aug 21 00:07:33 <{Nico}> très bien Aug 21 00:07:41 <{Nico}> where is that machine? Aug 21 00:07:48 en Vienna bien sur Aug 21 00:08:07 aroscha: was hat das jetzt mit batman zu tun? Aug 21 00:08:18 nico: 100mbit uplink Aug 21 00:08:38 <{Nico}> aroscha: nice, would it be dedicated the cause? Aug 21 00:08:55 Nico: no Aug 21 00:09:07 Nico: but it can be used for openwrt stuff Aug 21 00:09:39 <{Nico}> do you have some kind of isolation (xen, vservers)? Aug 21 00:10:33 nico: no, not yet, but we should have some Aug 21 00:10:40 <{Nico}> aroscha: also full builds are actually eating much diskspace Aug 21 00:10:50 ah... Aug 21 00:10:51 damn Aug 21 00:11:02 hm... maybe we can get another big HD in there... Aug 21 00:11:35 <{Nico}> how much hdd space do you have atm?
