I cannot reproduce it locally, will investigate this evening Jul 26 10:08:14 its maybe due to the way buildbot splits the compile process Jul 26 10:15:05 swalker: ah, looks like buildbot does not clean package/ Jul 26 10:15:26 therefore opkg never gets recompiled Jul 26 10:52:41 axel * r22389 /packages/net/bmxd/Makefile: Jul 26 10:52:41 packages/net/bmxd: use stable branches/bmxd-0.3.x (instead of upcoming, unstable, and incompatible trunk/bmxd v0.4) Jul 26 10:52:41 bmxd-0.3.x is fully compatible to former trunk/batman-experimental Jul 26 11:27:33 ping any developer :) Jul 26 11:39:43 pong Jul 26 11:41:13 hey man Jul 26 11:41:51 jow_laptop, your xmff right? Jul 26 11:42:26 if so, the wiki, got any thing that needs to be done? Jul 26 11:44:26 also i think there needs to be a 'suppot' link added to the top menu of the website and wiki. Jul 26 11:45:03 support would indicate the Table of Hardware and other support info. Jul 26 11:45:32 maybe have popdown menus for me menu bar to support more links to suff Jul 26 11:45:58 like with Documentation... it points to outdated info. we should at least have two docs... Jul 26 12:01:08 RealOpty: hello Jul 26 12:01:27 RealOpty: you could see about converting oldwiki docs to the new wiki? Jul 26 12:02:26 yeah im gonna start on that, but its not that easy since its pointless to copy and paste Jul 26 12:02:36 of course Jul 26 12:03:17 cshore, but Jul 26 12:03:23 since your here :) Jul 26 12:03:30 yes? Jul 26 12:04:10 cshore, would it be ok to copy and paste the ToH for devices that say 'supported' and keep there links to the old info pages? Jul 26 12:04:22 the old ToH* Jul 26 12:06:25 RealOpty: I think so ... only problem is the parts of the page that have things usage instructions that may have changed, but things like the boot log, cpu info, pics, and so on, would be great. And if there are tftp instructions you can replace them with the meta-tftp info that you've done (will be doing?) Jul 26 12:08:03 RealOpty: how's the munchkin? Jul 26 12:08:22 yeah i dont wanna tackle the pages just yet but rather add the info to the ToH Jul 26 12:08:34 cshore, shes great :) Jul 26 12:08:43 RealOpty: Oh I see, that makes sense Jul 26 12:08:47 doing good so far. eating every 3 hours Jul 26 12:08:52 and were finally home Jul 26 12:10:20 cshore, what you working on atm? I think that's a reasonable goal, but it's early days yet. Jul 26 13:42:03 OutBackDingo: so soon anyway Jul 26 13:44:57 cshore: cool Jul 26 13:45:11 cshore: most willing to test / debug Jul 26 13:47:11 OutBackDingo: excellent. Jul 26 18:15:26 yes Jul 26 18:15:30 it needs to be tested against some other models Jul 26 18:17:56 for which milestone is it ? i'm using the latest trunk version Jul 26 18:18:10 set it to trunk Jul 26 18:18:21 k Jul 26 18:21:19 btw, is it still impossible to write nvram ? Jul 26 18:29:04 does the device you guys talking about have two things of nvram? like a nvram and nvram_copy? Jul 26 18:29:19 don't think so Jul 26 18:29:22 kk Jul 26 18:29:35 it just has an unusual nvram offset within the mtd partition Jul 26 18:29:49 ok Jul 26 18:31:20 xMff, do you have a suggestion on how i could skip this offset? Jul 26 18:31:21 0x1fc00000-0x1ffe0000 : (hidden) serial number, MAC address, router code Jul 26 18:34:35 xMff: yes i still can't write the flash Jul 26 18:34:49 here is the ticket https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/7672 Jul 26 18:37:29 RealOpty: you mean you want to make a "hole" in the partition at this offset? Jul 26 18:38:09 yes, i want to exclude it from being apart of the 'jffs' Jul 26 18:38:27 is it at the beginning or somewhere in between? Jul 26 18:38:40 I can't help you much here, not so experienced with the mtd api Jul 26 18:39:19 im not sure really Jul 26 18:39:27 thats all the info i have to go on Jul 26 18:39:35 that and sourcecode from dd-wrt Jul 26 18:40:35 xMff, maybe you can help a bit by taking a look at this Jul 26 18:40:36 http://svn.dd-wrt.com:8000/dd-wrt/browser/src/linux/brcm/linux.v24_2/drivers/mtd/maps/bcm947xx-flash.c#L470 Jul 26 18:41:12 does the 'switch' section there... does it apply that board_data and jffs_exclude to all those 'case' ? Jul 26 18:42:53 yes Jul 26 18:43:08 case switches without a break in between are fall-through Jul 26 18:43:20 so it applies to all four models Jul 26 18:43:38 ok cool. Jul 26 18:44:03 xMff, is there a way i can see the differances in this file and the one in openwrt? Jul 26 18:44:48 "diff" ? ;) Jul 26 18:45:14 dd-wrt code is so messed, it'll probably show it as one 100% difference anyway Jul 26 18:45:45 yeah thats what i thought Jul 26 18:45:59 i dont even know C and i can tell you they suck at it lol Jul 26 18:49:54 xMff, do you know someone within openwrt that programs in C? Jul 26 18:50:24 uhm, I think all devs can do C... Jul 26 18:53:52 why wl broadcom propietary drivers are enabled by default on bcm63xx? Jul 26 18:54:04 they don't work for me Jul 26 18:54:40 they aren't Jul 26 18:55:02 well, actually they are Jul 26 18:55:24 on latest trunk.. Jul 26 18:55:45 and hundred svn before Jul 26 18:57:33 oh well, gnu sort again Jul 26 18:58:37 jow * r22390 /trunk/target/linux/brcm63xx/profiles/ (8 files): [brcm63xx] reorder profiles Jul 26 18:58:48 should be fixed Jul 26 19:02:16 may I ask what the problem is on your board? Does the driver not attach or are there issues in client mode/wds? Jul 26 19:03:40 no interface detected, even manually with wifi detect. Jul 26 19:03:58 dmesg? Jul 26 19:10:03 xMff, who else develops on the brcm47xx platform? Jul 26 19:10:14 Hauke Jul 26 19:10:20 just him? Jul 26 19:10:33 hes never on irc lol Jul 26 19:10:35 some others from time to time Jul 26 19:11:36 meh i would like to get this working for openwrt :( Jul 26 19:11:48 it would enable 4 devices to be supported on openwrt Jul 26 19:12:21 RealOpty: hi Jul 26 19:12:37 Hauke, hey man :) Jul 26 19:12:52 didnt noticed you signed on 40 min ago... Jul 26 19:13:22 Hauke, you got time to make a patch for brcm47xx? Jul 26 19:13:29 xMff: i have only this info related to wl modules Jul 26 19:13:38 RealOpty: yes Jul 26 19:13:40 wl: module license 'unspecified' taints kernel. Jul 26 19:13:50 wl: Unknown symbol nvram_buf Jul 26 19:13:55 thats all Jul 26 19:14:05 danitool: ah. you didn't rebuild your kernel probably Jul 26 19:14:11 or at least did not clean it Jul 26 19:14:14 rebuild? Jul 26 19:14:19 Hauke, ok cool Jul 26 19:14:34 this seems really easy to do i think. i just dont wanna screw it up and brick the router Jul 26 19:15:23 Hauke, ok take a look at this Jul 26 19:15:26 http://svn.dd-wrt.com:8000/dd-wrt/browser/src/linux/brcm/linux.v24_2/drivers/mtd/maps/bcm947xx-flash.c#L467 Jul 26 19:15:56 thats the line that starts the changes to add support for these 4 routers. Jul 26 19:16:41 from line 476 to 478 Jul 26 19:16:53 and the get_router() function. Jul 26 19:17:34 RealOpty: there is also a ticket for taht change avaliable? Jul 26 19:17:35 and the board_data_size and jffs_exclude_size that is added to the lines starting at 500 Jul 26 19:18:00 Hauke, you talking about the ticket i opened? Jul 26 19:18:13 danitool: make target/linux/clean world Jul 26 19:18:13 RealOpty: yes Jul 26 19:18:27 :| Jul 26 19:18:28 Hauke, correct there is a ticket Jul 26 19:19:23 if you dont feel up to doing the patch maybe you can just give me the answer to what i need to know Jul 26 19:20:33 do i need to do that before the normal make V=99? Jul 26 19:21:01 which is = board_data_size and jffs_exclude_size, how should i make the changes in openwrt the code to remove them from bcm947xx_parts[1].size ? Jul 26 19:22:23 Hauke, do you want the link to the ticket? i dont think it would help much as the answers are in the code. Jul 26 19:22:46 RealOpty: would be nice to haev it Jul 26 19:22:58 now I am looking into the code to get the differences Jul 26 19:23:19 Hauke, ill grab it Jul 26 19:23:27 https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/7630 Jul 26 19:25:45 Hauke, i made a typo earlier but you might of realized it by now. lines were 467 to 478 Jul 26 19:27:19 RealOpty: the interesting part is some lines after that Jul 26 19:27:22 danitool: from time to time at least, otherwise buildroot will not apply new patches in all cases Jul 26 19:27:47 danitool: you seem to be missing https://dev.openwrt.org/browser/trunk/target/linux/brcm63xx/patches-2.6.33/300-wl_exports.patch in particular Jul 26 19:29:30 but, i'm using 2.6.32 kernel Jul 26 19:29:38 same patch exists for .32 Jul 26 19:29:43 ok Jul 26 19:31:26 Hauke, i take it your talking about the /* find and size rootfs */ part Jul 26 19:31:35 looks like they are bad coders Jul 26 19:33:10 then now is it better to use wl propietary drivers on 2.6.xx kernels ? Jul 26 19:33:54 better performance? Jul 26 19:34:26 danitool: well it depends. Better performance is very likely but it still has issues, client mode and wds does not work yet on bcm63xx. Ap mode works fine though Jul 26 19:34:58 I'd say give it a try. You can still switch back to b43 Jul 26 19:35:18 and I'd be interested in feedback. I only tested prop. wl on a GW6000 board so far Jul 26 19:44:41 xMff, is it ok to add target profiles to the svn? Jul 26 19:44:51 RealOpty: don't see why not Jul 26 19:44:59 unless its nonesense ^^ Jul 26 19:45:49 its not. its basicly stuff to enable a functional device for the target Jul 26 19:45:56 well then Jul 26 19:47:38 xMff, https://dev.openwrt.org/attachment/ticket/7647/SIMPLESHARE.mk Jul 26 19:48:23 hey xMff do you know when juhosg will be back? (i guess he is afk for sometime ... it looks like that) Jul 26 19:48:33 you might see it fit to remove optional packages such as block-extroot Jul 26 19:48:48 Memphiz: no I don't. I guess he's on vacation :) Jul 26 19:49:15 RealOpty: just think. we used to have a wl-hdd profile in brcm-2.4 that done nearly the same Jul 26 19:49:27 maybe you should rename the profile to "NAS" or "IDE" Jul 26 19:49:29 was my guess too ... well ... ok ... mhh ... i see myself digging into sources *hrhr* Jul 26 19:49:35 ;) Jul 26 19:49:36 oh? Jul 26 19:50:41 xMff, or maybe you can rename it to "wl-hdd / simpleshare " Jul 26 19:51:02 there are more one-port / nas like devices around Jul 26 19:51:16 wl-300ge or the edimax one Jul 26 19:51:36 is this target profile in trunk? Jul 26 19:51:58 not anymore Jul 26 19:52:01 wait Jul 26 19:52:07 i dont see it in the folder Jul 26 19:52:34 https://dev.openwrt.org/browser/branches/backfire/target/linux/brcm-2.4/profiles/WLHDD.mk Jul 26 19:52:52 https://dev.openwrt.org/browser/branches/backfire/target/linux/brcm-2.4/profiles/WL700GE.mk Jul 26 19:53:39 thats for backfire :) Jul 26 19:53:57 its for brcm-2.4 which does not exist anymore Jul 26 19:54:00 is package kmod-brcm-wl wireless? Jul 26 19:54:04 nbd are you around? is there something which i shoul know when building kmod-swconfig? It doesn't get built when i enable it in config ... Jul 26 19:54:07 anyway. dinner. bbl Jul 26 19:54:14 xMff, lol peace Jul 26 19:55:05 Hauke, made any progess ? :) Jul 26 19:55:42 Memphiz: on most platforms you don't need to build kmod-swconfig, as it's already built into the kernel Jul 26 19:56:12 mhh than could it be, that this api is not available for tha ar71xx target? Jul 26 19:56:25 it is available and enabled by default in the kernel Jul 26 19:56:29 swconfig doesn't work there ... i thought i missed the module ... Jul 26 19:56:47 what kind of device and what kind of switch does it have? Jul 26 19:57:03 its the tp-link wr1043nd with the rtl8366rb switch Jul 26 19:57:09 *duck* ;) Jul 26 19:57:24 that one should definitely have swconfig support enabled by default Jul 26 19:57:28 nbd, do you see this fit enough for svn trunk? https://dev.openwrt.org/attachment/ticket/7647/SIMPLESHARE.mk Jul 26 19:58:20 RealOpty: looks good Jul 26 19:58:32 nbd: in target config for this router it wasn't selected by default ... i found it and wanted to build is as module (since i have flashed my 2 routers already and didn't want to reflash for that) Jul 26 19:58:42 nbd, how do i add it to svn? Jul 26 19:58:54 RealOpty: a developer with commit access needs to do it Jul 26 19:59:16 Memphiz: target config for the router? there is no per-router kernel config with ar71xx Jul 26 19:59:27 the kernel config is the same for all ar71xx devices (except the NAND ones) Jul 26 19:59:29 nbd, thank you. i didnt believe i would of been able. Jul 26 19:59:51 ahh good to know ... then i've used the wrong word for it ... Jul 26 20:00:32 then i meant the "target profile" selection ... but as you say it has no influences to kernel config ... Jul 26 20:01:13 the fact is ... i don't seem to be able to compile kmod-swconfig as module afterwards ... is this a "feature" or a "bug" or just pebcak (don't hope so *hrhr*) Jul 26 20:01:22 that's intentional Jul 26 20:01:26 it wouldn't work as a module anyway Jul 26 20:01:32 it needs to be built-in Jul 26 20:01:38 (as it is by default) Jul 26 20:01:52 ahh ... strange there is a kmod-swconfig package in the opkg list ... Jul 26 20:02:00 somebody added it for a different platform Jul 26 20:02:11 ok Jul 26 20:02:20 got it :) Jul 26 20:02:46 build #74 of cobalt is complete: Failure [failed compile_7] Build details are at http://tksite.gotdns.org:8010/builders/cobalt/builds/74 Jul 26 20:03:01 Hauke, if you come up with a patch or something send me a message, bbl :) thanks for looking into this Jul 26 20:04:09 nbd: grep swconfig .config Jul 26 20:04:10 CONFIG_DEFAULT_swconfig=y Jul 26 20:04:10 CONFIG_PACKAGE_swconfig=y Jul 26 20:04:10 # CONFIG_PACKAGE_kmod-swconfig is not set Jul 26 20:04:27 on r22087 Jul 26 20:04:31 looks correct Jul 26 20:04:55 mhh Jul 26 20:05:22 then there must be something else which is preventing it from doing its work Jul 26 20:05:43 swconfig dev eth0 show Jul 26 20:05:43 Failed to connect to the switch Jul 26 20:06:10 regardless which interface i use Jul 26 20:06:19 with the rtl8366rb driver you need to use rtl8366rb as the device name Jul 26 20:07:44 :D Jul 26 20:08:02 k that did the trick Jul 26 20:08:24 the default config should have some settings for this switch Jul 26 20:11:03 ahh shit Jul 26 20:11:04 of course Jul 26 20:11:38 i remember ... i didn't connect the information from /etc/config/network with swconfig ... Jul 26 20:11:43 thx Jul 26 20:11:47 for clarification *G Jul 26 20:27:26 mhh nbd as i see in the header you wrote the driver for the rtl8306 switch ... do you have any idea why juhosg could have had disabled learning mode in 8366 (i have the suspicion that this fact is causing a hub like behaviour)? Jul 26 20:28:07 no idea Jul 26 20:28:13 rtl8366 is quite different from rtl8306 Jul 26 20:28:45 do you think my theory could be right? (no learning means an empty mac lookup table - means broadcasting anything?) Jul 26 20:31:10 mhh i am willing to test it (by commenting out the disabling of learning mode and so on) ... but am a little afraid that i can't access the router afterward (since this is compiled into the kernel and not a module only ... so i guess failsafe wouldn't help there) Jul 26 20:33:14 maybe add a swconfig attribute to make this configurable Jul 26 20:34:51 good point ... this would be more save ... thx ... i will try that ...
