I don't suppose this has something to do with setting all the drivers, i.e. usb2, etc., as modules, does it? May 06 21:12:02 ermo: I do not think so May 06 21:12:43 Ok then. Any clue at all why .32 'counts down' the RAM amount, while the newer versions do not? May 06 21:13:58 ermo: I think it has nothing to do with the kernel version but some bytes are placed at some special place and that make this problem show up. May 06 21:14:19 ermo: the memory detecting code has not changed from backfire to trunk May 06 21:15:34 Hauke: 'some bytes are placed at some special place'? You mean, something is writing to somewhere it shouldn't? May 06 21:21:37 ermo: the amount of memory the device has is detected by looking where it begins again. broadcom maps the main memory into a 128MB space as often it fits into it, so if you have 32 MB of RAM every part of the ram is there 4 times. we try to find the second place and determine the ram size by subtracting the first occurrence from the second one. but now the key we are searching for seams to be there more times and we are subtracti May 06 21:23:00 Hauke: 'you had me at hello world' May 06 21:23:19 * ermo hugs Hauke for taking the time to look into it May 06 23:16:06 nbd: how do the alix2 patches look? cshore has tried them, and so have the folks at PC Engines (Gmbh)...
