**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Jun 06 03:00:22 2013 Jun 06 07:00:14 hi all, is there a cpuburn tool that support cortex-a9 without neon? Jun 06 09:00:38 cpuburn is using neon? Jun 06 13:31:03 ogra: question, can we keep the image building stuff simple? like we did with the Nexus 10? where I just debootstrapped a base ubuntu rootfs, put that onto the data partition, compiled the kernel and packed that with the standard ubuntu initrd Jun 06 13:31:10 ( for the Nexus 7 ) Jun 06 13:31:59 only with the Nexus 7, I preseed the chroot with https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-tegra3 and the desktop kernel Jun 06 13:34:32 ( the desktop kernel being this one : http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-nexus7.git;a=summary _ Jun 06 13:34:35 ) Jun 06 13:35:22 who is "we" ? Jun 06 13:35:33 do you mean you create an image locally ? Jun 06 13:39:53 i have a BeagleBoard Black that I want to throw Ubuntu on. I downloaded the ubuntu-13.04-console-armhf-2013-05-29.tar.xz, and the md5 comes out correct. When I try to use 7-Zip (Windows) to extract the .xz file, it says it is not an archive. Is the xz file actually image, and I should use that file when creating my SD card? Jun 06 13:41:17 ogra: we = kubuntu team :) Jun 06 13:41:20 ogra: yes Jun 06 13:41:21 for now Jun 06 13:42:34 this isnt an official ubuntu image, find the person who created it and ask him/her Jun 06 13:43:22 which image are you talking about :S Jun 06 13:44:53 thanks ogra Jun 06 13:45:03 oh that was for pbcw Jun 06 13:45:06 that beaglebone thingit Jun 06 13:45:11 right Jun 06 13:45:12 roger Jun 06 13:45:49 well, for your kubuntu image, just create a tarball, make sure abootimg is in it as well as the graphics driver Jun 06 13:45:55 i assume that should suffice Jun 06 13:46:32 uhhhh I'm not going through the whole reflash kernel method :P Jun 06 13:46:34 * ogra hasnt touched desktop images in ages ... have a look at the build scripts in livecd-rootfs Jun 06 13:46:43 you have to Jun 06 13:46:47 why? Jun 06 13:46:58 you *need* to rebuild the initrd Jun 06 13:47:06 right, but *why* Jun 06 13:47:12 if you use a proper bootimg with tarball installer at least Jun 06 13:47:20 because it will not boot Jun 06 13:47:29 can't it work like we did with the Nexus 10? Jun 06 13:48:21 i have no idea what you did with the N10 Jun 06 13:48:31 compile kernel , pack it with a standard ubuntu initrd, set rootfs=/dev/mmcppblk Jun 06 13:48:33 apart from hacking it to get X up Jun 06 13:48:49 sure, you can do that as a hack Jun 06 13:49:42 if I understand it correctly, the way it's done in the desktop image currently is to allow for kernel upgrades? Jun 06 13:50:00 so when there's a new kernel in /boot the device flashes itself again? Jun 06 13:50:15 no Jun 06 13:50:22 oh, so why is it done like that? Jun 06 13:50:40 anything that uses a trigger for initramfs will re-flash Jun 06 13:50:55 has nothing to do with /boot Jun 06 13:51:00 I see Jun 06 13:51:02 but with dpkg triggers Jun 06 13:51:16 roger Jun 06 13:52:58 anyway, I'll take the hacky way for now ;) Jun 06 13:53:41 ogra: FWIW I still don't have X on then N10, because I can't find the right X11 exynos 5250 drivers :( Jun 06 13:54:04 I heard there's a simplefb driver in the kernel now, going to look at that once I'm through with the N7 Jun 06 13:54:15 well, if your kernel works correct it should just start Jun 06 13:54:22 using xfbdev Jun 06 13:54:30 (which is the default on arm) Jun 06 19:23:35 hey guys I'm trying to compile libavg for arm, I am getting some configure errors, the pkg-config script could not be found or is too old make sure it is in your PATH any ideas? Jun 06 19:23:56 I am not sure how to set the flags Jun 06 19:27:41 ValDuare: Did you try installing pkg-config? Jun 06 19:28:25 doing that now heh Jun 06 19:28:27 retesting Jun 06 19:29:27 got a new error now Jun 06 19:29:43 I'm sure you did. Jun 06 19:29:52 Out of curiosity, what's wrong with the libavg in the archive? Jun 06 19:30:00 pangoft2 Jun 06 19:30:16 apt-cache search libavg shows nothing? Jun 06 19:30:50 python-libavg Jun 06 19:31:00 And it's in universe, do you have only main enabled in your sources.list? Jun 06 19:31:40 checking Jun 06 19:32:23 hah if that works I'm going to crack spent all morning fulfilling dependancies to compile libavg haha Jun 06 19:32:55 On, wait. What release are you running? It was arch-restricted to x86-only in precise and quantal. :/ Jun 06 19:33:02 Build on armhf in raring and saucy. Jun 06 19:33:06 s/Build/Built/ Jun 06 19:33:48 12.10 picuntu on an mk808 Jun 06 19:34:04 Ahh. Why 12.10? Jun 06 19:34:16 If you upgrade to 13.04, you might be a bit happier. :) Jun 06 19:34:29 I haven't tried updating yet Jun 06 19:35:00 main restricted universe multiverse is enabled in sources Jun 06 19:35:41 Yeah, but like I said, it's not built in quantal. Jun 06 19:35:43 And this is why: Jun 06 19:35:47 * Change architecture to any Jun 06 19:35:47 * Make some x86 specific debug code conditional (replacing it with a Jun 06 19:35:48 deliberate segfault) (patch accepted upstream) (Closes: #683105) Jun 06 19:36:01 ^-- Before that change (which was made in raring), it wouldn't have worked on ARM. Jun 06 19:36:10 k Jun 06 19:36:28 ok Jun 06 19:36:36 i'll work on updating tonight Jun 06 19:36:45 are you familiar with mk808 and picuntu? Jun 06 19:37:18 Nope. Jun 06 21:55:36 Hello all, I am trying to install Ubuntu Precise 12.04 on my PandaboardES. I have followed the instructions here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/pandaboard/vKunvhMNV8k Just wanted to know if there has been an update on this known issue: * Black screen issue on some HW - workaround: Ctrl+Alt+F1 then Ctrl+Alt+F7 or boot with screen un-plugged, plug it after 1 minute. Issue under investigation. Jun 07 01:16:52 hey guys how can I upgrade to 13.04 without do-release-upgrade it requires me installing update-manager and 134 megs of extra packages that i don't have room for heh **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Jun 07 02:59:58 2013
