**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Wed Mar 19 02:59:58 2014 Mar 19 19:44:10 Afternoon all Mar 19 19:44:14 It Mar 19 19:44:19 It's been a long, long time :) Mar 19 19:49:30 It's been sad that there have been no more physical summits ... that used to be one of the big highlights of the year for me :) Mar 19 19:49:42 The online summits just aren't the same :) Mar 19 20:28:46 Hi all.. Maybe I'm just missing it, but where could I find the prebuilt ubuntu rootfs images? Mar 19 20:33:21 Is it necessary to deboostrap it? I was of the understanding a stock armhf image existed. Mar 19 20:49:45 "ubuntu-core" is a rootfs tarball with no kernel, if that's what you're after. Mar 19 20:50:24 applepi: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-core/releases/ Mar 19 21:33:11 infinity: okay.. if I wanted to get ubuntu running on an SD card on an ARM board, with as little pain as possible, what instructions should I follow? I've found several different images, methods, suggestions, etc., and nothing works. Mar 19 21:35:13 applepi: If it's a device we don't support, the answer is something like "you're on your own". Mar 19 21:35:43 applepi: And I suspect that's the case for you. So, you need to provide the bootloader and kernel, then jam that into a rootfs (like the above) and see what happens. Mar 19 21:36:05 applepi: Every device is different, so there aren't really any sane written instructions I could even write to tell you how to do that generically. Mar 19 21:36:08 infinity: should the generic kernel and rootfs not work? Mar 19 21:36:43 applepi: The generic rootfs will work fine. The generic kernel almost certainly not, unless it's one of the few devices supported by it. Mar 19 21:37:40 infinity: I have the device tree for it, and from what I understood, support for the chipset was enabled in the generic kernel. Mar 19 21:37:52 applepi: What is "it"? Mar 19 21:38:05 infinity: mx6slevk Mar 19 21:38:30 Ahh, well, then, "maybe". Mar 19 21:38:41 mx6 support is on in our kernel but not all boards are completely enabled, I suspect. Mar 19 21:39:01 stgraber may know more, but he seems to be avoiding this channel today. :P **** ENDING LOGGING AT Thu Mar 20 02:59:58 2014
