**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Oct 07 02:59:56 2010 Oct 07 03:35:38 Anyone care to give a newb a couple mins of there time? Oct 07 04:09:51 well ... like I said a while back, I knew for sure Palm was working on a 3630-based Pre successor. I just don't know if it will ever see the light of day or be superseded by an OMAP4 phone. Oct 07 04:10:57 I'm still inclined to think there's an OMAP4 phone given that proc started shipping early this year Oct 07 04:11:02 I think we'll see OMAP4 on a Palm phone. Just don't know if its this one or the next one. the so called Mansion Oct 07 04:11:35 I think the P102 will the OMAP3, and the Mansion would have the OMAP4 Oct 07 04:11:42 isn't OMAP4 supposed to be a lot faster? Oct 07 04:11:54 yes, it's dual core and smaller process Oct 07 04:12:20 dual core? Oct 07 04:12:31 that might end up in the tablet Oct 07 04:12:59 yes, dual cores at 1GHz. It will end up in phones, just hoping palm will be the first Oct 07 04:13:49 it'd be cool, yeah, but with how many people complain about battery life on the current phones? :p Oct 07 04:13:56 the OMAP4 is an insane chip. Real time 1080p video encoding and hardware media decoders that hardly use any battery power Oct 07 04:15:01 trust nme, battery life will be a LOT better on the omap4. Think hours and hours of mp3 playback without worrying about recharging Oct 07 04:15:36 dun dun dun, that's interesting Oct 07 04:15:45 the "RoadRunner" was rumored to have a high res screen Oct 07 04:16:10 and apparently some of the P102 FCC docs make it sound like this is RoadRunner Oct 07 04:16:55 I'm definitely holding out for more if p102 is a 3630, even though that chip will offer major performance improvements over the 3430 Oct 07 04:18:24 if the p102 is packing a Retina display and a better processor, and ends up on sprint... then awesome Oct 07 04:19:32 3630 will run at 1GHz and use far less battery power Oct 07 04:19:45 and probably overclock to around 1.3 Oct 07 04:19:48 SineOt: I've never seen any solid rumours about roadrunner having high res screen. Oct 07 04:20:18 wasn't there the metrix reports stating a device had been used with a 960x640 screen? Oct 07 04:20:27 (which was also the source of the roadrunner in the first place if I remember right) Oct 07 04:20:43 that was probably the dummy entry that I injected into Metrix Oct 07 04:20:49 yeah, but how hard would it be to fake that stuff? Oct 07 04:20:49 going off memory here Oct 07 04:20:51 ah Oct 07 04:20:54 ahahaha Oct 07 04:20:57 well then that answers it :p Oct 07 04:21:40 lol @ redina display Oct 07 04:21:46 shame on you rwhitby :p Oct 07 04:23:59 lol Oct 07 04:24:34 battery life is actually great on the pre once you buy a 1400mAh battery, turn off push email and tweak voltage settings ... lol Oct 07 04:25:12 make it easily through an entire day with plenty to spare Oct 07 04:25:33 and I leave all my radios on Oct 07 04:26:00 I get that kind of life on my Pixi, but I do turn off the data when I go to bed Oct 07 04:29:34 I usually end up charging an hour or two after I get home Oct 07 04:29:36 no matter Oct 07 04:29:37 what Oct 07 04:30:07 but thats because I get no service at home Oct 07 04:30:10 with a touchstone it's easy to just do that since it's like, *toss* *charges* Oct 07 04:30:54 I have to many touchstones... Oct 07 04:31:20 send me a few :9 Oct 07 04:31:36 I need to get about 3 more touchstones. one for the kitchen, one for the living room, one for the office Oct 07 04:31:36 lol Oct 07 04:31:56 I just don't have enough chargers to go with the touchstones Oct 07 04:32:02 s/need/want Oct 07 04:32:57 I get no service at my job cause it's an army base Oct 07 04:33:09 and not ready fully for civilian employees yet. Oct 07 04:33:23 I'd love an in car touchstone, there's even a giant panel on the dash that has ONE tiny thing on it: a toggle to turn off the passenger airbag Oct 07 04:33:33 We are getting a couple of cell towers next year, but my Pre stays on the Touchstone in airplane mode while I'm at work Oct 07 04:34:12 I have one in my car. it just sits there next to the gearstick Oct 07 04:35:09 works great for me Oct 07 04:35:15 this has a column shift, would be hard to put on there ;p Oct 07 04:35:57 ah... you need a fancy mount then. Oct 07 04:36:14 off to bed. nite Oct 07 04:36:35 theres no place to mount it in my car... Oct 07 04:36:56 like I said, there's a giant panel (seriously, it's like 2x4") Oct 07 04:37:03 that would make a great mount for it Oct 07 05:36:27 Preware isn't playing nice with me tonight Oct 07 05:37:13 Naughty Preware. Oct 07 05:38:51 yeah, either that or Sconix' Advanced Config program is borked Oct 07 05:38:58 I prefer to think it's my end screwed up Oct 07 05:39:17 what's the symptoms? Oct 07 05:39:29 ipkg fails Oct 07 05:39:42 i'm putting together a pastebin now ... something screwed up with a bunch of hunks Oct 07 05:39:56 ah, that just means you've got conflicting patches installed Oct 07 05:40:18 i just dumped the software on the phone and did a fresh install of preware Oct 07 05:40:46 so this is immediately after a complete webOS Doctor? Oct 07 05:41:13 everything on my phone is app store ... not sure about the webos doctor ... dunno I ever did anything with that, but I believe I have the program Oct 07 05:41:42 I have it ... do I use it? Oct 07 05:41:57 have you ever installed any patches using Preware or WebOS Quick Install or Internalz before? Oct 07 05:43:13 preware and quick install, but not since I did the reset on the phone earlier tonight ... I installed preware, but that's it Oct 07 05:46:47 all started with me trying to fix my speakerphone setup, Sine0t thought sconix's programs would be an improvement, and I'm sure they will Oct 07 05:56:15 morning Oct 07 06:27:05 rwhitby: webos doc seems to be working Oct 07 06:57:51 i've looked around, but i've been unsuccesful, is there a way to playback flac files on webos? Oct 07 06:59:54 ? Oct 07 07:05:24 i don't think so? Oct 07 10:02:27 rehi Oct 07 10:02:32 hay Oct 07 14:47:39 what would be great is a non-developer mode way to install random things Oct 07 17:34:40 is anyone having troubles getting to preware.org? Oct 07 17:44:30 ka6sox-work: works here Oct 07 17:44:53 dtzWill, thanks Oct 07 17:47:51 the preware app was laggy for me last night, and I can't get any of the themes to load with webos quick install Oct 07 18:17:51 I just looked at the back cover of my pre plus just now, it's a part number 180-10704-00 ... I can't tell if it's a Touchstone or not ... I'm thinking no, but ... Oct 07 18:18:57 P299N4U3C3A is on my touchstone cover Oct 07 18:19:17 oops, that's not the P/N ... 180-10704-00 is it Oct 07 18:19:32 sweet ... so i got the oem touchstone? Oct 07 18:19:36 yeah Oct 07 18:19:44 =^_^= Oct 07 18:19:46 i think every plus comes with the touchstone cover Oct 07 18:20:00 I couldn't tell Oct 07 18:20:13 verizon was selling the charger, but I couldn't find the back Oct 07 18:21:03 Yes, the touchstone back is standard on the Plus Oct 07 18:21:40 * KittyHeather does little happy dance Oct 07 18:23:22 the easy way to tell is to take the back cover off and look at the inside of the cover Oct 07 18:23:40 if you see a sticker looking thing with a small chip with two little metal contacts... touchstone cover Oct 07 18:23:53 it is Oct 07 18:24:07 i thought maybe they were dummy wires though Oct 07 18:24:09 there ya go, Oct 07 18:24:10 nope Oct 07 18:24:11 i've seen it before Oct 07 18:24:23 * KittyHeather purrs Oct 07 18:24:30 also, the touchstone covers are kind of a soft matte color whereas the stock backs are gloss black Oct 07 18:24:40 but that go's out the door with the artist backs and coloroed backs Oct 07 18:26:12 heh Oct 07 18:26:27 i'm going to shop around for a case later ... i haz no money now Oct 07 18:31:58 it's chuqui .. /me bows Oct 07 18:33:43 * KittyHeather looks around, then curtsies because swisstomcat is bowing Oct 07 18:33:56 meow Oct 07 18:34:49 I've been surprised at how robust my Pre is, considering the stories. Oct 07 18:35:32 yeah, I was told it was a POS, only issues I've had is the N key on my keyboard, and the continuing stubborness of getting yahoo messenger to stay working Oct 07 18:35:37 I've dropped it at least 8-10 times onto tile or concrete and other than a few pits in the plastic it's still ticking along just fine Oct 07 18:35:42 who told you it was a POS? Oct 07 18:35:45 without a case Oct 07 18:37:16 actually, check that....I did drop it directly on the power button and have to have that reseated by a sprint tech Oct 07 18:37:33 but that's hardly a big deal Oct 07 18:37:55 a friend of mine ... said the it would stop working in a year ... i said i have an extended warrantee Oct 07 18:40:03 My phones never make it past a year anyway...I'm hard on them. Oct 07 18:40:16 Last one went for a swim in a cup of diet sunkist Oct 07 18:41:32 Got tired of having to buy a new phone without an upgrade every other year. Oct 07 18:41:45 one of the reasons I switched to Sprint Oct 07 18:45:41 Hello everyone! Maybe somebody can help me on my question. I am the developer of a music player app for webOS. The problem is: I cannot see my app (Amigo: com.palm.amigo) in preware. I see it on the PC homebrew apps page and on http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/precentral, but when I remove it from my Pre and then reload preware feeds - i can't find it there to download and install. The app is also visible in webOS QI. Thanks Oct 07 18:50:49 shows up in Preware for me. You should set the "Feed" field in the Source: line to "PreCentral" Oct 07 18:52:15 * balrog-k1n today sent his Palm Pre to about 300m above ground level attached to a kite and taking pictures Oct 07 18:53:02 sorry, Rod, what "source: line"? Oct 07 18:55:03 rburakou: in the control file in the .ipk Oct 07 18:57:18 oh, thank you, I created the ipk using IpkPackager13 maybe missed it Oct 07 19:33:13 thanks for helping! bye! **** ENDING LOGGING AT Fri Oct 08 02:59:57 2010
