**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Thu Dec 29 02:59:57 2011 Dec 29 03:00:03 usually is Dec 29 03:04:43 so any way to get a prl besides activating it as a pre mius and pulling it from there/. Dec 29 03:44:21 rwhitby: ok so it seems it was a batt level issue... getting USB symbol now... to pull the klog do you suggest I use novaterm, or? Dec 29 03:47:39 ah, just got to bootie, I think, via novacom Dec 29 03:53:51 Okay suckas ! Dec 29 03:53:57 I got my TouchPad for x-mas Dec 29 03:54:08 now what do I do with it ? Dec 29 03:54:19 Masturbate Dec 29 03:54:40 how long ago was 3.0.4 77 released ? Dec 29 03:54:41 It has a vibrate function Dec 29 03:59:24 samthewildone: http://bit.ly/phd-ac Dec 29 04:01:41 brb Dec 29 04:24:19 http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2398124,00.asp Dec 29 04:36:26 I should have made a video of one of mine Dec 29 04:39:08 how to to download it? Dec 29 04:39:28 how to download what? Dec 29 04:42:12 I take it nova-installer-image-roadrunner.uImage gives me no way to bring up wifi, nor is there a safe place to tar up USB contents? Dec 29 04:42:23 apart from make-backup and whatnot Dec 29 04:47:01 lingfish: make backup in meta-doctor Dec 29 04:56:55 rwhitby: nice.. no need... using novacom and run to cat stuff out. Dec 29 05:00:59 Better yet, a tar of all of /mnt/media Dec 29 05:01:03 Sorted, huzah. Dec 29 05:10:02 lingfish: which is actually exactly what "make backup" does, funnily enough ... Dec 29 05:10:14 Hmm. Probably the last one to know this, but rather than mess around with cross compiling on a non-ARM machine running Debian and scratchbox, it's sort of easier to just chroot into Debian on the TouchPad and compile from there. As long as you compile with static libraries everything goes smooth when you run the binaries in webOS. Dec 29 05:10:37 sure, if you're a masochist ;) Dec 29 05:11:22 I don't have enough room for GCC on the TP because my preware partition is too tiny Dec 29 05:11:30 otherwise i'd just do it from the tp Dec 29 05:12:12 preware partition? Dec 29 05:12:35 you can make the ext3fs partition as large as you like, up to 24GB or so easily Dec 29 05:12:42 yeah I know Dec 29 05:12:53 but i don't want to start from scratch Dec 29 05:13:06 ouch, compiling on the tp Dec 29 05:13:08 just use Tailor to resize it Dec 29 05:13:38 too scared of a possible failure Dec 29 05:15:23 Hello Impostahs Dec 29 05:15:40 failure leads to success...at some point Dec 29 05:16:09 I've spent probably 2 weeks getting my tp exactly the way I want it Dec 29 05:16:15 so.. starting over isn't an option Dec 29 05:16:49 sethron: so you frobbed the tokens? Dec 29 05:17:20 b3d0u1n: you realise that having said that, you will now have an unexplained crash which wipes your device, right? Dec 29 05:17:35 lol Dec 29 05:17:47 I have not attempted yet. unsure where to start. Dec 29 05:18:00 Yeah, though it is an ssd so i'm less worried about that Dec 29 05:18:15 rwhitby: I know... I went to git and peeked at how you were doing it; could have just told me I could to novacom "run"'s and expect good stuff on stdout :P you forget I've been around the block a few times heh Dec 29 05:18:32 heh, it ain't the memory chip which crashes and corrupts things ... Dec 29 05:19:01 lingfish: '"make backup" in meta-doctor' is far more concise and precise Dec 29 05:20:00 Does that create a clone of the entire filesystem you can restore with? Dec 29 05:20:24 rwhitby: in my books, nah... it meant pulling more crap down, building blah blah etc etc... this was simpler, only needed to pull a few pics off it. Now I wait for its batt to hit 25%. Wish you could just sit the phone in shutdown state to charge insted of it always wanting to bloody well boot (which is where it'll freeze after 1 min of boot) Dec 29 05:20:24 rwhitby: most of my frobbing led to these irc logs. may I have a hint please? Dec 29 05:23:47 I have show properties and emailed the xml. Dec 29 05:25:43 sethron: unpack, patch, cp webOS/castle.xml . Dec 29 05:25:47 edit castle.xml Dec 29 05:25:56 CUSTOM_XML=... patch Dec 29 05:28:09 with what meta-doctor jar? Dec 29 05:28:41 actually, the Pre 3 impersonation page is a good starting point Dec 29 05:29:34 sethron: http://www.webos-internals.org/index.php?title=Pre_3_Impersonation&oldid=19223 salted to taste for your device Dec 29 05:34:03 rwhitby: what script in meta-doctor would be for a Franken Unlocked Pre-? Dec 29 05:38:14 sethron: are you looking at the specific historic version I liked or the latest version of that wiki page? you don't want the latest version Dec 29 05:39:51 there is no pre-written script for what you want to do Dec 29 05:42:23 hmm, I may have to push this back for a while. I'm happy with the wifi-only pre with 2.1.0. it sure is tempting. maybe do it at SCALE? Dec 29 05:42:50 sethron, do what @ scale? Dec 29 05:44:02 take a OG pre with a GSM comm board, no power or volume buttons, and put 2.2.4 on it? Dec 29 05:45:28 its currently functioning with 2.1 and delta dagger. Dec 29 05:45:52 oh, okay Dec 29 05:49:21 I gotta bounce, have a great new year, y'all. Dec 29 05:49:38 no buttons as in the physical button is missing but you can trigger the functions? or the electronic bits don't function? Dec 29 05:51:21 dwc: volume buttons shot. power button may be able to toggle, but not probable. it's a true franken. Dec 29 05:52:48 rwhitby: thanks for the link, a frobbing I go. Dec 29 05:55:23 jcsullins, you about? Dec 29 05:55:37 yep Dec 29 05:56:08 you played with the bootargs @ all? Dec 29 05:57:34 trying to see, it looks by default they disable the console. Dec 29 05:58:02 u talking about framebuffer console .. or real console? Dec 29 05:58:10 real Dec 29 05:58:15 wait, rwhitby, Tailor is usable? I should get on that Dec 29 05:58:50 I hadn't heard anything in a while, and so I assumed it was still in pre-testing phase Dec 29 05:58:58 ka6sox-away: I have some, but would not know where to expect output ... Dec 29 05:59:21 ya, we don't know about the pinmuxing Dec 29 05:59:45 I should see if its in the boardfile. Dec 29 06:03:50 humm, what pins does the yellow cable connect to ... I think I'd need to hack into a iPhone headphone/mic cable to test ... (thinking that'd work) Dec 29 06:05:26 it would be teh "mic" connection Dec 29 06:10:34 is this 3G or wifi tpad your testing with? I think the 3g models shares the CONSOLE_UART RX gpio pin with somethine else ... Dec 29 08:36:55 or serial at correct voltage, I guess ... Dec 29 08:37:27 the port seems to be 3V Dec 29 08:40:04 I think my arduino might work at 3v Dec 29 08:42:11 5V..will kill the TP Dec 29 08:43:52 then must make sure arduino is @3 NOT 5 :) Dec 29 08:44:52 I would assume 3.3 would be fine ... ? Dec 29 15:49:59 well working on irssi is sorta anti wIRC, but irssi and htop use nearly all xterm escape codes Dec 29 15:50:03 so they are good tests Dec 29 15:51:51 wterm related: pipe on the keyboard was outputting as 0 yesterday but otherwise I haven't really had much of a chance to look at it Dec 29 15:52:24 been banging my head against liblunaservice/lunaservice.h (with decent success) Dec 29 15:57:09 oh yeah Dec 29 15:57:14 i have to fix some of those Dec 29 15:57:31 Brybry: those are valid bug reports if u want to mark all those down that do that Dec 29 15:57:45 put them all in 1 ticket Dec 29 15:58:06 sure Dec 29 15:58:16 i have to use irssi since all my staff related scripts and authentication (including requiring coming from certain static IPs to get my oper privs) are all setup on my server's irssi config. Dec 29 16:07:09 esp in portrait mode Dec 29 16:16:10 Ok, so I ended up somehow borking WebOS install on my Touchpad 32gb and tried to run WebOS Doctor to restore it. Anyway, I attemped this numerous times and it completes fine but then I get the HP logo for a few seconds and then it looks like it restarts. So pretty much, the HP logo keeps flashing on and off. Anyway, I know this device is next to impossible to brick. So can anyone point me into the another way to restore the device to Dec 29 16:16:26 I setup Archlinux on the touchpad alongside Android/WebOS and then when I rebooted into WebOS, all of my icons were missing so I tried to tried to restore it using WebOS and that is when this started happening.
