**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Feb 19 02:59:58 2012 Feb 19 08:00:26 Interesting. Feb 19 16:51:38 Hey everyone, I have a question about lighttpd. I installed it on my Pre+ (2.1), it works on localhost, but I can't access it from any other device on the same network. The strange thing is that no iptables rules appear when I list them, and nothing seems to change when I try to add one by myself. Am I just dumb or there is a problem with iptables? Feb 19 17:02:47 Nel_, chances are the lighttpd configuration has it bound to localhost or 127.0.0.1 (same thing really) for security reasons Feb 19 17:02:57 and it would be up to you to change it to have it be "public" Feb 19 17:03:14 just a guess, I have never looked at the lighttpd package Feb 19 17:06:29 Hmm, I didn't see anything like that in lighttpd.conf Feb 19 17:07:47 But I still think the problem is related to iptables, because there are rules in the upstart script, but nothing related in iptables -L Feb 19 17:22:26 Nel_, iptables-save Feb 19 17:22:39 and yes, lighttpd for some reasone doesnt pierce the firewall Feb 19 17:22:56 and fml, n900 rocks Feb 19 17:24:56 Nel_, /usr/sbin/iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT Feb 19 17:32:47 ko1: Actually the stuff I tried does appear in iptables-save, didn't think of that. And that was what I was using, except I had -i eth0, but it doesn't work either way :/ Feb 19 17:33:35 Am I supposed to save the rules somewhere though? Feb 19 17:42:05 Nel_, no Feb 19 17:42:10 maybe you made some mess Feb 19 17:43:34 lol, I don't think so, I always revert stuff I modified Feb 19 17:44:33 It's pretty much a clean install anyway, I doctored today Feb 19 17:44:45 i mean with the iptables Feb 19 17:46:20 Basically what I did before coming here is: /usr/sbin/iptables -I INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT Feb 19 17:46:37 I tried port 80 and 8080 (just in case), and with/out the -i eth0 Feb 19 17:46:54 And then I removed everything with iptables -D and the same rules. Feb 19 17:47:15 So I don't think I broke anything. Feb 19 17:47:15 i see Feb 19 17:47:30 well, is the port closed? Feb 19 17:47:54 can you ping it at all? Feb 19 17:48:30 i have trouble getting to my pre3 from one of the wifi routers here Feb 19 17:54:22 Hmm, it seems that I can't even ping it. Feb 19 17:55:12 Nel_, on wifi, right? Feb 19 17:55:27 ko1: Yeah, on wifi. Feb 19 17:55:35 try first pinging from it instead Feb 19 17:56:27 Doesn't work either Feb 19 17:59:40 ko1: So it could be a problem with the router? Feb 19 18:00:18 no idea Feb 19 18:00:31 maybe you really messed up the iptables:)) Feb 19 18:02:07 is the meta doctor git repository offline? Feb 19 18:02:50 ko1: Well I just tried to ping my TP where I never changed anything in iptables, and it doesn't respond either, so... Feb 19 18:03:46 And I can ping other machines on the network, so ping is not broken :D Feb 19 18:04:24 hmm, weird - clone does work. Well Feb 19 18:11:50 DThought_, which repository? Feb 19 18:12:16 what is the exact URL you are trying to clone? Feb 19 18:14:50 :) Feb 19 18:16:14 cryptk: clone did work - "git pull" in my old local meta-doctor clone did only tell me "fatal: remote end hung up unexecpted" Feb 19 18:16:21 i now have a new clone Feb 19 18:16:41 probably because your old local clone had the old GITurl Feb 19 18:16:49 from before we moved it to github Feb 19 18:17:20 ah Feb 19 18:17:23 that might be Feb 19 18:19:05 yes - its from git.webos-internals.org Feb 19 19:04:14 Anyway, I'll leave it like that for the moment. It's not very important. Thanks for your time ko1 and until next time, maybe :) Feb 19 19:38:31 Believe it or not, this is the first time I've every tried any IRC. I apologize in advance if I do something wrong, I don't know the rules. On my touchpad predate seems to get stuck at checking the feeds. My pre + is fine. aNyone got a suggestions? Feb 19 19:39:41 I ment preware, stupid spelling correction! Feb 19 19:46:44 Scepterr, you have a network connection on the TP? Feb 19 19:47:13 anyway, I gotta run, b double e double r U N... Feb 19 19:47:15 BEER RUN! Feb 19 21:10:34 folks Feb 19 22:20:14 HellO Feb 19 22:32:45 Wonder if any palm employees live here. Feb 19 22:42:44 no Feb 19 23:00:41 I lurk here, but you guys are pretty out of my league on the internals stuff, so I don't talk much Feb 20 00:27:50 bheuy: That's pretty confident :> Feb 20 00:28:41 Kysh, he's right... mainly because you cannot... as a physical being... live in an IRC channel Feb 20 00:29:26 Mm... I'd be willing to debate that! ... in a philosophical split-consciousness sense. ~.^ Feb 20 00:30:10 why does Qt take so long to build... Feb 20 00:30:17 xorg-server builds faster than this Feb 20 00:58:03 Kysh: at various times over the last 2 years, there have been a number of Palm/HP employees that frequent this channel (up to 7 at a time at the peak). At the moment I see two. Feb 20 00:58:55 Since this channel is neither an official or unofficial HP support channel, it is up to those individuals as to whether they wish to announce their affiliation. Of course, even if they do, they would not be speaking on behalf of their employer here. Feb 20 02:19:05 There have absolutely been palm employees here, at all different levels of involvement within palm Feb 20 02:52:30 rwhitby: Of course not ^.^ Neither am I... I was mostly just curious as to who else was around. I've stopped in here once or twice before, but haven't really stuck around. Feb 20 02:59:30 hey rwhitby **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Feb 20 03:00:00 2012
