**** BEGIN LOGGING AT Sun Oct 12 02:59:59 2014 Oct 12 04:47:59 so.. i'm reading the instructions for installing.. (about to install) and i feel like i'm missing something Oct 12 04:48:44 how does moboot figure out what options to present? is it just "names of uImage.*" files ? Oct 12 06:11:56 EricBlade: Yes I guess so ;) Oct 12 06:12:31 You don't need to specify it yourself Oct 12 06:23:44 ok, so i ordered a sim card for my tp4g Oct 12 06:24:06 and i've got 3.0.5 on it now, and some android install that isn't working in the slightest Oct 12 06:24:39 and now i'm waiting for the battery to recharge so i can try and get lune on there. i wonder if i'll need to resize /boot maybe Oct 12 06:25:20 and then my plan for tomorrow is to write a multi-platform version of the GoPro app Oct 12 10:04:41 morning Oct 12 18:57:27 hmm. is there a way to resize /boot? tailor doesn't seem to have the function Oct 12 19:08:25 oh well, i'll just put the CWM image off in root unless i need it i guess Oct 12 19:16:56 hmm. i was almost there, but moboot has decided that it should only boot uImage.webOS Oct 12 19:17:57 also, this tp4g just went from cold boot to desktop on display in under 30 seconds. what? how? i've never seen that before. Oct 12 19:18:21 (in 305) Oct 12 19:20:25 aha, had to remove moboot.next Oct 12 19:21:06 ok after showing the kernel command line are we expecting just a black screen for some time? Oct 12 19:22:37 ok after a lot of usb connect/reconnect sounds from my pc, i got the pulsing moon, and here we are Oct 12 19:26:33 ok, wow. i wasn't expecting it to be as different as it is :D Oct 12 19:27:02 Why different? It's quite the same :P Oct 12 19:27:05 But yeah ;) Oct 12 19:30:46 i guess i thought more of lsm would've made it over in direct translation, i guess? Oct 12 19:31:01 i mean, i know it's a totally different thing Oct 12 19:32:55 status bar seems a lot larger, spacing on quick launch is weird, no drop down settings menu, was a little surprised when the keyboard first appeared on the wrong half of the screen lol Oct 12 19:32:58 i can't get wifi or sound up Oct 12 19:33:24 the android image i installed couldn't get wifi running either Oct 12 19:36:09 i wonder if it has something to do with it being a 4g. though i thought android without 4g support was supposed to work with wifi Oct 12 19:38:21 ok audio test works, volume keys don't. home button acts weird. animations need help. these are all things that will take time, so i'm not too worried about that. i can get started as soon as i figure out how to get wifi working :D Oct 12 19:40:26 it's a bit surprisingly unresponsive at times. i wonder what's going on there, and i'm going to have to learn some new things to help Oct 12 19:41:17 boo. it froze. :-S Oct 12 19:49:57 Wifi some time need to be boot twice to get it to wrok right now Oct 12 19:52:01 Spacing is weird, I made a fix to have the browser as first icon on TP and emu because they don't have phone app. On N4 the phone app is on most left. Should be in nightlies shortly ;) Oct 12 19:52:14 Sound buttons and home button should work (does on WiFi TP) Oct 12 19:52:19 Need to test on my 4G one Oct 12 19:52:29 Responsiveness on TP is not perfect, better on my N4 Oct 12 19:52:37 I guess it needs some optimizations Oct 12 19:52:47 Wifi is picky in general, noticed that on TP and 4G Oct 12 19:53:19 Remember this is all software accelerated, NO HW acceleration yet ;) Oct 12 19:56:58 Wifi on TP and N4 I mean Oct 12 20:28:38 the launcher animations are quite fast and seem to be very high fps .. everything else is .. not. Oct 12 20:28:44 :-) Oct 12 20:29:23 but without wifi working, it's completely not useful for my current task :-S Oct 12 20:37:14 EricBlade, what device is this? Oct 12 20:57:04 ka6sox: tp4g Oct 12 21:07:19 aha Oct 12 21:07:39 uhhuh? Oct 12 21:08:07 yup yup Oct 12 21:11:40 do tell why aha? Oct 12 21:12:01 EricBlade, because I've not tested with my TP4G Oct 12 21:12:42 I didn't expect it to work with TPG but didn't think there would be a problem with TP4G Oct 12 21:13:59 well, i'm a little curious. I had installed a wifi android release about a month or so ago, and that worked. And I was using a tp4g android release until i wiped it yesterday, and that "worked" .. at least, wifi and data worked. But now that I wiped it, and reinstalled everything, Wifi is only working in webOS 305 Oct 12 21:15:04 hmm. i was going to try swapping to a 3.2 kernel android build to see if that came up.. but without enough space in /boot to handle all three systems... grr. Oct 12 21:15:29 if one of these kernels was the size of the palm kernel, problem would be solved, but they are all about 2x it's size Oct 12 21:15:55 also, Herrie told me it would work. I blame Herrie. Oct 12 23:59:34 interesting. when i plug in via usb the display comes on, but when i touchstone, it doesn't. Oct 13 00:00:01 should i upgrade this to a nightly build, or is the current stable pretty close? Oct 13 00:01:14 also.. my adb isn't recognizing it Oct 13 00:03:29 oh.. wonderful. every time i plug in an android device, i have to go to device manager, and muck with the driver that is installed. yuck! had same problem the the n5 Oct 13 00:03:33 and the gnex Oct 13 00:04:42 hmm. anyone know if there's some way to access /boot (as visible from webos 305) from luneos ? Oct 13 00:09:57 ... where did logging go Oct 13 00:40:28 ok bumped my kernel back to a 3.2 kernel and.. it doesn't even have a wifi switch in android Oct 13 00:43:47 ok rebooted, and it just halts at turning wi-fi on. meh. ok, so, the kernel doesn't work right on tp4g. Oct 13 00:43:57 in either android 4.4.4 or luneos, as far as i can tell Oct 13 02:45:34 so.. can someone clue me in on exactly what the difference is between the luneos kernel and the android kernel? such as, why do we need three of them, if we have Android, ClockworkMod, and LuneOS ? Oct 13 02:48:10 EricBlade, I believe the answer to that is that LibHybris has been proven to work against certain kernels. Oct 13 02:51:33 right, i get why there should be one specific one for luneos, because it's not necessarily identical to android, but i'm curious as to specifically what might be different .. or noting that all three of the kernels are very close to each other in size, i'm wondering if it might just be some option setting, that maybe moboot doesn't know how to set.. or if they use a specific kernel for recovery independently of the main system kern Oct 13 02:51:37 that was way long sorry Oct 13 02:52:29 its fineā€¦and informative +1 Oct 13 02:52:56 so i'm guessing, since i dind't have to do any editing of any configurations, then that the root device and possibly other things are built into the kernel though Oct 13 02:53:27 usually into the initramfs Oct 13 02:53:48 android has a fixed location Oct 13 02:53:50 it's been at least 10 years since i've messed with linux at the boot level lol Oct 13 02:53:59 I don't know about cyanogenmod Oct 13 02:54:06 and LuneOS has a initramfs Oct 13 02:55:23 so i wonder if i could grab the kernel out of the android image that somewhat worked, and put it on here, and if that would work, or if it would blow up. and then i also wonder if it would be possible to get that same kernel to attempt to boot lune Oct 13 02:56:12 i guess i can always fix it if i break it, and it's not like there's anything at all on this device Oct 13 02:56:37 going to go watch walking dead, and then give it a shot and see what happens. **** ENDING LOGGING AT Mon Oct 13 02:59:59 2014
